The Capital of Aquitaine

Practise your best santé - you'll be raising your glass a lot in Bordeaux!
Tour the chateaux, enjoy the world-class wines and indulge in the regional cuisine, but remember that Bordeaux offers much more....
There are incredible architectural riches, theatres, cathedrals, museums & riverside quays lined with graceful buildings & cafes - Bordeaux just keeps them coming. The wine capital of the world, Bordeaux will also delight lovers of fine food - combining the specialties of three regions - Gironde, Landes and Périgord .

The West Coast Beaches.

A short drive from the City - heading West, takes you to the Atlantic coast & the amazing beaches that stretch both North & South.
Visit the lovely town of Arcachon, with it's historic buildings & superb seafood restaurants. North of Arcachon is the beach resort of Lacanau, its world famous surfing draws competitors from around the globe for the first two weeks in August every year for the surfing championships!
For younger children there is Lacanau Lac, a small inshore lake perfect for paddling, pediloes and building sandcastles, where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the beach crowds.
Lacanau is surrounded by numerous square miles of pine forest and is a cyclists paradise. Special tracks have been built all over the area and bike riders have their own lanes on the roads. Mountain bikes can be hired from a number of places around the forest and there are dozens of camp sites.
Lacanau also has a lovely golf course situated between the forest and the beach.

The medieval town of Saint-Emilion is a short drive away.
Covering 27 sq kilometres, this commune produces some of the very best wines in the world. Perched on the hilltop it looks down on vineyards & stunning Chateaux as far as the eye can see.
Dug out of solid limestone the monolithic church & catacoombes are breathtaking.
The square, at the foot
of the church is full of cafes - the perfect place for lunch.
