The pays de Coutras is situated on the edge of the pays de Libournais between the rivers Isle & Dronne as they wind on down to join the Dordogne. The West Coast Beaches.
A short drive from the City - heading West, takes you to the Atlantic coast & the amazing beaches that stretch both North & South.
Visit the lovely town of Arcachon, with it's historic buildings & superb seafood restaurants. North of Arcachon is the beach resort of Lacanau, its world famous surfing draws competitors from around the globe for the first two weeks in August every year for the surfing championships!
For younger children there is Lacanau Lac, a small inshore lake perfect for paddling, pediloes and building sandcastles, where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the beach crowds.
Lacanau is surrounded by numerous square miles of pine forest and is a cyclists paradise. Special tracks have been built all over the area and bike riders have their own lanes on the roads. Mountain bikes can be hired from a number of places around the forest and there are dozens of camp sites.
Lacanau also has a lovely golf course situated between the forest and the beach.
